Why did I start this journey?
After 17 years in marketing at FMCG corporations in Latin America and USA, and being in the top of my career as CMO of Grupo Familia... why changing that great life?
I started questioning myself after attending the One You World Summit in 2013 in South Africa. There I witnessed how young leaders have created companies that achieve great financial results while having a lasting impact on their communities. One leader, Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu, an Ethiopian woman, founder and CEO of the only WFTO fair trade footwear company on the planet that works with recycled materials, especially inspired me. She manages to excel while balancing people, planet and profit. At OYW I saw that I must dream bigger and do more. I understood that I can really make a big difference in people’s lives and that, like Bethlehem, I don’t need a big corporation to do so. Therefore, I decided to make a change.

With a new found purpose I started my own company, YAMIS, a baby food business in 2014 with the promise “feeding mind, body and soul”. After one year I decided to put the company on hold because of currency devaluation and being focused on my full time job. Still, that experience at YAMIS allowed me to learn that I needed to re-set my mindset from a highly resourced environment to an entrepreneurial one. Searching I found the Stanford MSx program, a 1 year full time master's degree for experienced leaders; the perfect program for an extreme makeover.
Stanford is an ecosystem designed for entrepreneurship, during the program and after. Top faculty, hands on classes like Start Up Garage, extra-curricular resources like the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and a network for life. EndFragmentEndFragment
So I am now an MSx fellow class of 2018, in other words, a Stanford GSB student. I am half way through the program, focusing on entrepreneurship.
